The Prince Rupert Labour Council voted at its November 18th meeting to change its name to the “North Coast Labour Council” as part of several changes to its By-Laws. The change will not be official until there is another formal vote by the Labour Council and final approval by the Canadian Labour Congress.
The change in name reflects current delegates and local affiliates from Haida Gwaii, Metlakatla, Port Edward and other communities outside of Prince Rupert. As part of the By-Laws changes, the Labour Council will now formally include local affiliates located within the North Coast Regional District.
